My relationship with Lexus started back in 2012 (http://www.gottahavegadget.com/ultimate-guys-weekend/). Through that weekend, I made a lot of friends at Lexus, their PR firm Team One, and several other bloggers. It was one of my first media trips, and I learned a lot from that experience. So it was no surprise to me that Lexus reached out to me about this program.
I was aware of the Lexus Strike Out Hunger campaign where Lexus teamed up with the Boston Red Sox and NESN to donate $50 for every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher in 2016. In 2016 the Red Sox had 1362 strikeouts, Lexus donated $68,100 and 1,300 pounds of food to the Greater Boston Food Bank. Those donations helped provide over 200,000 healthy meals to those in need across Eastern Massachusetts. They are back again this year with one of the strongest Red Sox pitching staffs we have seen in a long time!
To date in 2017, Lexus and the Boston Red Sox have donated over $17,700 to the Greater Boston Food Bank! My wife and I recently attended the Red Sox vs Orioles game on May 18th. It was cold, and my beloved Red Sox lost 8-3, however even though they lost, Red Sox pitchers struck out 6 batters which netted $300 worth of donations to the Strike Out Hunger program. So even when the Sox lose, the Greater Boston Food Bank wins! IF you are a Sox fan, you know Chris Sales has been on fire as a started. He alone has had 85 strikeouts this year, totaling $4,250!
So Lexus, NESN and the Red Sox are doing their part, you maybe asking yourself, “How can I help?” Lexus will be holding food drives at 6 local area Lexus dealerships in the month of June. In addition the Greater Boston Food Bank can take donations directly or you could volunteer for one of their events. Find out how you can help by visiting their website https://www.gbfb.org/
I will be posting updates on my social media pages throughout the season to show the running total. You can follow me on twitter https://twitter.com/Mike_Conrad or on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/average_guy_travel_blogger/ You can also tweet about this program using #LexusSOH, please help me spread the word!!
