This literally just happened to me. My daughter’s friend called her and told her that her car “stopped working” at the top of our street. She said her check engine light had come on and she lost complete power.
I will tell you, I am not a mechanic, nor am I very technical when it comes to cars. I do know when a check engine light comes on it can be extremely serious or just a faulty sensor. That is when I was glad I had the BlueDriver by LeMur Monitors.
I walked up to the top of our street, plugged in the BlueDriver to the OBD-II port, and was instantly able to read the code on my iPhone. One of the nice features of this device is it works on multiple cars and basically any vehicle with an OBD-II port. The BlueDriver connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth technology. It was very easy to sync, and once done, you can move it from vehicle to vehicle.
You don’t need to be a mechanic to use the BlueDriver. I really wish I had this device a few years ago when I purchased a used car for my son. The seller cleared all the codes, so it appeared the vehicle was in good shape. I could have easily plugged in the BlueDriver and saw all the recent codes that were cleared! Believe me this would have saved me thousands of dollars.
Speaking of money, the BlueDriver is available for $99. The SmartPhone app is free. For under $100, you can have the knowledge that could save you a lot of money. In today’s vehicles, the check engine light can go off if the gas cap is not put back on properly. Now, you can take your chances with a mechanic, or easily diagnose the problem yourself and clear the code when finished.
In addition to ready codes, the SmartPhone app allows you to view recent repairs, check if your car is ready for a smog test, or even offer advance on-board diagnostics.
Believe me when I tell you this unit is extremely easy to use. I have used other hand-held units that only had a few lines of text and were difficult to read. For all the features the BlueDriver has to offer, check them out on-line at http://www.lemurmonitors.com/.
